Winter Fashion - Where We Shop When the Weather Turns Cold!
Posted on September 05 2017
As summer comes to an end, many of us will retire our fabulous retro bathing suits for another year. But what to wear in winter? For most of us, at least here in the UK, shorts, swimwear and little dresses just aren’t appropriate for the colder months! But don’t fear! There are a host of glamorous brands to keep you looking retro fabulous throughout the colder months.
Since her launch back in 2015, Zoe Vine has become the name to know for chic and glamorous dresses. If you’re looking for simple classic dresses with a hint of vintage chic, this is the label for you. The label boasts a collection of stunning dresses that will take you from the office to after work drinks. What’s more, the label is very reasonably priced considering the quality of the clothing. Billie is our personal favourite –the soft fabric drapes beautifully, is slimming and emphasises curves to perfection.
For those of not familiar with this Yorkshire based brand, you’re in for a treat! As well as beautiful pretty retro inspired party dresses (specialising in 1930s to 1950s vintage glamour), House of Foxy has some great separates including 1950s style Capri pants, 1940s style wide leg pants, cute little pussy bow blouses and lots of vintage style accessories. This is a one stop shop for your retro fabulous Christmas party!
Our polar opposite! Suitable for the water but not quite in the same manner as our vintage 1950s inspired swimsuits! Raincoats have gone out of style in recent years but back in the 1940s and 1950s before everyone had a car, they were every day essentials. Elements raincoats (Pictures above) are chic, practical and perfect for our notoriously unreliable British winter. What’s more, you can choose your own fabric and style and they’ll make one up for you! We love a bright pink to add some brightness to a dull day.
Since launching at the tender age of 24 back in 2005, Lena Hoshcek has been dressing the world’s fashionistas in beautiful 1950s inspired dresses. The Austrian designer is known for her flattering fit-and-flare silhouettes inspired by her national dress, the dirndl. These aren’t cheap but the attention to detail, quality of fabric and excellent structure and design are more than worth the somewhat eye watering prices.
So there you have it, four excellent brands for your winter wardrobe until swimwear season comes back and you can rock our 1950s style swimwear with aplomb! And for those of you lucky enough to be heading off for some winter sun, keep an eye out for some great styles and labels joining our collection in the coming months!
